What is acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a complementary medical practice that focuses on stimulating specific points on the body, to balance the Qi, usually with a thin delicate needle. A study published in the October 2012 Archives of Internal Medicine found that acupuncture is effective for treating chronic pain. Acupuncture has been used for over 2,500 years and originating in China, acupuncture has become a world-wide alternative treatment for many conditions.
In Chinese philosophy (origins of Acupuncture) Yin and Yang are polar opposites. Yin is negative and Yang is positive. Yin is feminine and Yang is masculine. Yin is dark and Yang is bright. The small circles inside indicate there must be a little yin in yang and yang in yin.
Pronounced “CHEE”, is the energy that flows throughout the body. Disruptions to the energy flow impact the individuals well-being. Qi flows through the body on pathways called meridians which are connected to all the various points within your body. Similar to your veins and arteries, carrying blood throughout the body. Qi should always be flowing, when Qi is blocked, acupuncture can be used to unblock and reset the energy flow.
